LA keeps rolling, comes back to beat Mets

Through 4 2/3 innings of Saturday's game against the Mets, the Dodgers couldn't get much of anything going.

The final 4 1/3 provided yet another example of why this is turning into an historic season for Los Angeles.

Five different players hit home runs and the scalding-hot Dodgers came from behind to win 7-4 at Citi Field.

Los Angeles (78-32) won for the 43rd time in its last 50 games (.860 winning percentage), though the visitors looked to be on the wrong end of history early on.

Mets' starter Seth Lugo retired 14 of the first 15 batters he faced and didn't allow a hit until Yasmani Grandal roped a double into the right-field corner with two outs in top of the fifth. Lugo escaped that jam with his team still ahead 3-0, but the right-hander wasn't as lucky an inning later. Chris Taylor led off the sixth with his 15th home run to put an end to the shut out bid, and with one out, Justin Turner singled and Cody Bellinger launched his team-high 31st, a tying, two-run shot.

The Dodgers took the lead for good in the seventh against losing pitcher Paul Sewald (0-4) when Yasiel Puig hit a line drive solo home run to make it 4-3.

Corey Seager hit the final long ball, crushing a two-run blast into the right field upper deck in the ninth.

Before that, things were going well for the Mets.

Los Angeles starter Rich Hill's only struggles came in the opening inning as the Mets jumped all over several fast balls. Michael Conforto started the scoring with his 22nd home run on Hill's second pitch of the day. Later, Wilmer Flores and Curtis Granderson tagged Hill for back-to-back solo shots and New York led 3-0.

After the rough first frame, Hill started throwing his excellent curve ball for strikes. The southpaw settled down and allowed just a pair of harmless singles and picked up seven of his eight strike outs in four more innings of work. The Los Angeles bullpen didn't allow a hit until Rene Rivera took Ross Stripling deep with one out in the ninth to make it 7-4.

Los Angeles has won 12 of 13 games and moved to 6-0 while hitting 23 home runs against the Mets in 2017.
